CAD Technician in San Antonio

We are currently searching for a Junior level and Senior level CAD Technician to support our Southwest Region located in Austin, Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler, TX
.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of geometric design projects.

• Provide assistance to engineers using Open Roads Designer to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects
• Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
• Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
• Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Roads Designer
• Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
• Research design options and document findings
• Coordinate assignments with project team and supervisor
• Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Be a team player and assist other groups as needed

• Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
• Experience in Open Roads Designer
• 3-15 years of prior experience with roadway drafting
• Under 3 years experience will be evaluated if applicant has a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
