As an EIT, you'll be involved in projects from concept through construction while working directly with licensed Professional Engineers and Project Managers. You'll gain experience in:
- Civil site development
- Roadway and transportation design
- Drainage and stormwater systems
- Utility design and coordination
- Construction support and project delivery
This role will allow you to continue developing your technical skills while taking on increasing responsibility as your career progresses.
What You'll Do- Assist with the design and layout of civil engineering projects including roadway, drainage, grading, and utility improvements.
- Prepare engineering calculations, exhibits, technical reports, and construction documents.
- Develop and modify plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Support permitting efforts and work with local agencies and municipalities.
- Review construction drawings and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
- Perform occasional site visits and field investigations to gather project information.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and engineer's estimates.
- Assist during construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and supporting project administration.
- Participate in quality control reviews to ensure high‑quality project deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification (or ability to obtain within six months)
- Approximately 2‑4 years of civil engineering experience (internships count)
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects while collaborating with a team
- Valid driver's license
- Consulting engineering experience
- Experience with land development or public infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of local development regulations and permitting
- Experience with drainage, roadway, grading, or utility design
- A long‑term goal of obtaining your Professional Engineer (PE) license
