The LiDAR Technician is responsible for managing LiDAR technology and Terra Scan Software to collect, process, and analyze geospatial data. This role involves working with advanced software and hardware to produce high-quality data for various applications, such as mapping, surveying and 3D modeling.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain LiDAR systems and equipment.
  • Conduct field surveys and data collection.
  • Process and analyze LiDAR data for accuracy and consistency.
  • Develop and implement data collection methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to hardware and software.
  • Inputting deeds and plats required for a project into AutoCAD Civil 3D software for analysis.
  • Generate detailed reports and visualizations from software or hardware data.
  • Prepare sketches and drawings to represent survey data and results.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, field personnel, and office staff.
  • Assist with project management and scheduling when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized survey records and databases.
  • Operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in LiDAR Processing technology.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and/or Terra Scan Software.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in land surveying or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of surveying equipment, procedures, and software.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Basic knowledge of survey principles and survey computations covering both plane and spherical geometry.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read plats, legal descriptions, deeds, surveys, etc.
  • Basic understanding of geospatial data management.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age.

Working Conditions

  • Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations may be required.
