* Parsons is now hiring an experienced
** Principal Fire Protection Engineer
** for our expanding portfolio of federal projects. This role focuses primarily on cost effective production of civil design deliverables including drawings, calculations, and specifications that comply with applicable codes and standards and contract requirements. In this position you will support a broad mix of US government projects across multiple Departments and Agencies.

We need staff to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environment and who have exceptional technical, communication, analytical and organizational skills.
You will work with design managers, architects, engineers, project managers, and construction managers to provide schedule, cost, budget, and risk expertise to strengthen delivering quality design on time and within budget.

* ** What You'll Be Doing:*
* + Efficiently and accurately completes a variety of fire protection engineering assignments such as preparation of 3D models and drawings in Autodesk Revit, specifications via Specs Intact, calculations and other design deliverables suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
+ Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings and 3D building models.
+ Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
+ Interfaces with other Engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated design products and with other departments to support procurement and construction activities.
+ Prepares detailed requisitions for construction services, equipment and materials.
+ Prepares engineering responses to Requests for Information and may work directly with construction teams to resolve issues and/or revise design products during construction.
+ Provides technical guidance to CAD Drafters, 3D Model Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
+ Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
** What Required Skills You'll Bring:*
* + Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and typically 12+ years of related work experience.
+ Proficiency in utilizing Autodesk Revit and other PC software packages typically associated with fire protection engineering is required.
+ Proficiency in preparing fire sprinkler system designs (including fire pump systems) in AutoSPRINK and AutoSPRINK RVT.
+ Proficiency in preparing fire alarm and detection system designs.
+ Proficiency in preparing smoke control designs, calculations, and rational analyses.
+ Experience in fire protection & life safety code consulting and design for facilities.
+ Excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.
+ Experience in fire suppression, fire detection and alarm systems, and life safety on US Government projects.
+ Professional Engineer registration in Texas.
