Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID)

The Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID) is home to more than 4,400 undergraduateand graduate students in 9 undergraduate, 16 Masters, and 6 PhDdegree programs. The college is supported by over 150tenure/tenure-track and fixed-term faculty and a dedicated cadre ofstaff. Each of the KCEID's five academic units brings unique valuefor advancing its mission- these include the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical, Aerospace, & Industrial Engineering as well as the School of Architecture & Urban Planning and the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering,and Construction Management.

School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM)

The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM) in the Klesse College Engineering and Integrated Design at the University of Texas at San Antonio consists of 36 tenure/tenure track andfixed-term-track faculty members and offers undergraduate degreesin civil engineering and construction science and management,master's degrees in civil engineering and facility management, aswell as doctoral degrees in civil engineering and environmental science and engineering.

Our faculty and students have been recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally for excellence in both research and teaching. Our research expertisespans a broad range of disciplines in civil and environmentalengineering, construction science and construction and facility management.

Salary Range: $5,000 percourse.

Position Summary

The instructor's teaching duties will involvebut are not limited to:

  • Developing lesson plans, course materials, and studentassignments for the assigned courses.
  • Providing classroom instruction.
  • Assessing students' progress by grading assignments, papers,exams, and other work.
  • Responding to students' inquiries.
  • Providing advice/guidance to students on their courses andcareer plans.
  • The successful candidates will have expertise in one of the following areas:

    Reinforced Concrete Design in civil/structural engineering at the undergraduate level with expertise in ultimate strength theory anddesign for reinforced concrete members, including beams, columns,slabs, foundations and walls. The applicant is expected to haveample experience in analysis and design of concrete systems.

    Highway Engineering in civil/transportation engineering at the undergraduate level with expertise in general characteristics ofhighway design; horizontal and vertical alignment, cross-sections,earthwork, drainage, and pavement; and economic analysis. The applicant is expected to have ample experience in transportationengineering activities including highway design, material and construction specifications, and project management.

    Design of Timber Structures in civil/structural engineering at the advancedundergraduate/master's level with expertise in modern designphilosophy and methodology for timber structures, including flexuredesign, axial load design, and shear design of timber components.

    The applicant is expected to have ample experience in the analysis,design and performance of timber structures.
