Mission Hires is seeking an Electrical Estimator to prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual and detailed estimates for small to medium-sized projects. You will analyze drawings, perform material take-offs, solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes, and develop competitive, accurate estimates while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:- Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed estimates for small to medium-sized electrical projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and Basis of Design to determine scope and estimate contents
- Perform material take-offs using applicable estimating software and provide unit cost pricing
- Red-line documents and update quantities; track changes and resolve discrepancies
- Develop estimate comparisons and bid package documentation for internal review
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations; build and maintain vendor relationships
- Interpret RFPs to clarify scope, inclusions/exclusions, and assumptions
- Present estimate findings, assumptions, and risks to internal departments and respond to questions
- Leverage computerized cost data and systems to maintain accurate, current pricing
- Apply mathematical calculations (fractions, percentages, ratios, pr orations) to practical estimating scenarios
- Maintain organized estimate files, take-off records, and revision logs
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred; trade school or equivalent technical training and/or related experience accepted
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical/electrical construction estimating (electrical trade experience strongly preferred)
Solid knowledge of construction costs, principles, and estimating methodologies - Proficiency reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and Basis of Design documents
- Experience performing detailed quantity take-offs and unit pricing using estimating software
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile scope gaps and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to interpret and leverage computerized cost data and databases
- Proficient mathematical skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and pr orations
- Drafting/redlining skills for document markups and updates
- Solid verbal and written communication skills for internal presentations and vendor coordination
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
