YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Legacy Engineering Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Utility Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will support utility coordination throughout the design and construction of transportation and infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on utility-owner communication, field coordination, documentation, schedule tracking, and development of utility coordination deliverables. You will work closely with utility companies, contractors, engineers, and project managers to help keep utility activities aligned with project schedules and requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate utility relocation and adjustment efforts with utility owners, consultants, clients, contractors, and agencies to support project schedules, budgets, and construction timelines.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the project team and utility companies to facilitate communication, obtain utility information, resolve coordination issues, and support timely utility clearances.
  • Coordinate with utility owners to obtain facility records, as-builts, maps, and other available information, and assist with maintaining current utility information for project use.
  • Submit and track utility locate requests, review available utility/SUE information, and support field verification activities to improve the accuracy of project utility records.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Utility Conflict Matrix (UCM), utility conflict exhibits/layouts, utility exceptions, abandonment requests, agreements, permits, and other coordination documentation based on conflicts and direction identified by the engineering/project team.
  • Prepare and maintain utility coordination records, including correspondence, meeting minutes, action items, status logs, schedules, site visit reports, and project files.
  • Develop and maintain utility master design files and incorporate information obtained through records research, Texas 811/locates, SUE, field verification, and utility-owner coordination.
  • Create, review, and/or revise utility plan production and 3D utility models using Micro Station and Open Roads Designer (ORD), as applicable to project needs.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor utility relocation or construction progress, gather field information, document conditions, and verify general compliance with project plans and coordination requirements.
  • Track utility-owner responses, relocation status, unresolved coordination items, and upcoming milestones; provide timely updates to supervisors, project managers, and stakeholders.
  • Support utility coordination meetings and follow-up activities, including preparation of agendas/minutes, action-item tracking, and coordination with responsible parties.
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with utility owners, clients, contractors, and project teams to streamline coordination and resolve field or schedule-related issues.
  • Assist project engineers and design teams by gathering utility-related information, communicating field conditions, and supporting responses to utility coordination questions.
  • Ensure utility coordination activities and documentation are performed in accordance with applicable local, state, federal, and agency requirements.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS / CAPABILITIES / CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent utility coordination, construction, CAD, or field experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in utility coordination, construction, CAD/drafting, field inspection, or a related infrastructure role is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of utility systems and infrastructure, including water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and utility information sufficiently to support utility coordination, documentation, and field activities.
  • Experience with utility coordination documentation, permitting, utility-owner correspondence, meeting documentation, and/or project status tracking is preferred.
