Safety Specialist
DutiesProvides interpretations and guidance concerning the application of safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
Provides input and recommendations in matters concerning accident prevention and force protection.
Investigates mishaps, obtains witness statements, photographs scenes, records circumstances of mishap and extent of injuries, estimates property damage, and prepares a final report of findings with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Designs new safety program Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines and provides safety training on lessons learned throughout the Army which includes soldiers, civilians, and leaders.
Provides review and comment on policy, plans, and guidance promulgated locally and by higher headquarters for integration of safety, and applicability/compatibility with mission and safety objectives.
Inspections are conducted to evaluate planning, performance to standards, and effectiveness of established operational controls as described in the risk management plan.
