Employment Type: Contract/ Full Time – 10 months with possible extension for long term 1-2 years
Role Overview :The Onsite Manufacturing Project Engineer will play a critical role in driving improvements to increase throughput and reduce downtime significantly. This position involves hands‑on engineering support, mechanical design, and coordination with offshore resources to deliver robust solutions that enhance productivity, efficiency, and tooling capability.
Key Responsibilities:Mechanical Design & Engineering Support
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements for improvement projects.
- Get CAD models
, detailed drawings, and specifications for tools, fixtures, and process enhancements. - Support prototyping and testing of designed solutions.
- Work with local vendors to manufacture and implement designed solutions.
- Provide engineering expertise for custom solutions addressing plant needs and NPIs (New Product Introductions).
- Act as the primary liaison between client teams and offshore engineers.
- Prioritize and manage multiple small/medium and large projects simultaneously for deployment
- Provide weekly progress updates
, documentation, and status reports to stakeholders. - Ensure effective communication and collaboration across time zones with offshore teams.
- Analyze downtime causes and propose solutions to reduce downtime.
- Support initiatives to improve standard work and on‑the‑job training processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering
, Industrial Engineering
, or related field. - 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process improvement roles.
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
, tooling, and fixture design. - Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to deliver solutions under tight timelines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for cross‑functional and global collaboration.
- Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle manufacturing
. - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
, Six Sigma
, and continuous improvement methodologies. - Technical expertise in mechanical design and manufacturing optimization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and team collaboration.
- On‑site presence required Monday–Thursday, 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM
. - Meetings may occur after shift (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM).
- Occasional Friday/Saturday work for major cutovers and installations.
