Manage structural engineering projects, including coordination with clients, organizing and guiding team members to execute the design, and leading the creation of construction documents. Duties are to both the local and corporate entities.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMay include any or all the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibility to assigned projects- Lead teams of people in the execution of projects of varying systems, scales, and complexity.
- Organize work and internal teams to execute all aspects of structural engineering design, including analysis, design, coordination, detailing, development of plans and specifications, review of submittals, performance of site visits, and assessment of requests for information.
- Develop and adhere to recognized design criteria based on Building Codes, Standard Practice, and Company Engineering Standards.
- Perform Structural Analysis and Design Calculations structural elements and systems, for incorporation into Construction Documents.
- Communicate structural engineering designs using sketches, drawings, details, and models both internally and externally.
- Perform Construction Administration and Site Visits.
- Complete projects accurately and efficiently.
- Supervise the structural engineering work of other team members.
- Guide and mentor other team members to foster technical and professional growth.
- Foster good teamwork and communication within and across offices.
- Become a resource for other senior staff in the company as a knowledge or technical leader.
- Lead important process and system improvements initiatives for the Company.
- Develop areas of specialty knowledge to become a resource to others in the firm.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing within the company by assisting with the development of design standards and details, and documenting and sharing lessons learned.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and other external team members to understand project goals and requirements, coordinate structural designs with other disciplines, and to effectively communicate structural engineering aspects.
- Foster good relationships with clients and assist with the growth and reputation of the company.
- Become a trusted advisor to clients through excellent project leadership, thereby resulting in new and/or repeat business.

Education and/or Experience
- At a minimum, Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering strongly preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in the structural design of buildings
- Current Professional Engineer License (structural engineering) in Texas
- Strong knowledge and understanding of fundamental engineering principles, structural behavior, and design of structural materials.
