SAWS Project Manager Lead

A well-established, employee-owned environmental and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Principal Project Manager to support the continued growth of its municipal water and wastewater practice in San Antonio.

This is a high-impact seller-doer and client leadership position
, with responsibility for serving as a key client lead for a major San Antonio-area water utility. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing client relationships, identifying and winning new work, leading complex projects, and building a strong technical team.

The firm currently holds multiple active contracts with the utility, representing a significant existing backlog and a strong platform for continued growth. There is also a clear opportunity for career progression into more senior Principal or Client Service leadership roles based on business development and management performance.

• Lead client relationships and business development activities across the San Antonio municipal water/wastewater market.
• Identify, develop, pursue, and win new water and wastewater projects.
• Develop and negotiate proposals, scopes, budgets, and contracts.
• Serve as Project Manager for complex water/wastewater design and construction projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate technical staff and subconsultants.
• Maintain responsibility for project quality, schedule, budget, and financial performance.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering staff while helping expand the local team.
• Represent the firm through professional organizations and industry networking.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Active Texas P.E. license required.
• 20+ years of water/wastewater engineering experience preferred.
• 15+ years of project management experience preferred.
• Strong municipal wastewater collection and treatment design experience in South Texas.
• Established relationships with municipal water/wastewater clients in the San Antonio market.
• Proven success winning new work and developing proposals.
• Strong project financial and delivery management experience.
• Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and lead engineering teams.

• Capture approximately $2.5M+ in new wastewater design work annually

• Successfully manage approximately $2.5M+ in design/construction projects annually
  .
• Build and strengthen long-term client relationships.
• Deliver projects safely, ethically, and profitably while meeting scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Grow and develop the local engineering team through recruitment and mentorship.
• Maintain an active Texas P.E. license.

Up to $200k on the base, depending on experience, education, skills, and other factors.
