Connectivity Point is seeking an experienced Telecom Estimator to join our team. The Telecom Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate, competitive estimates for structured cabling and telecommunications projects from initial bid through project award. This position will work closely with Account Executives, Operations, customers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop solutions that meet project requirements, applicable codes, industry standards, and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of telecommunications and structured cabling systems and hold a current BICSI RCDD certification or other BICSI certification. Candidates with extensive industry experience and the ability to obtain an RCDD may also be considered.

This position will support our South Carolina area of operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate and competitive estimates for structured cabling and telecommunications projects.
  • Partner with Account Executives on bid opportunities, design/build projects, and customer requirements.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents to identify project requirements.
  • Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs and develop comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Obtain and evaluate material pricing from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop complete estimates, proposals, and scopes of work using company estimating software.
  • Perform site visits, independently or with the Account Executive, to assess existing conditions and project requirements.
  • Develop and review telecommunications and structured cabling designs in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Ensure estimates and proposed solutions comply with BICSI standards, TIA standards, applicable building/electrical codes, and customer requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, specifications, and architectural/engineering drawings.
  • Communicate effectively with Account Executives, customers, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and creative cabling solutions to support competitive bids and secure new business.
  • Assist with pre-construction meetings and project planning as needed.
  • Support the Operations and Project Management teams following project award to help ensure a successful project deployment.
  • Coordinate with Operations regarding project documentation, material requirements, design information, and field needs.
  • Coordinate design drawings, product specifications, submittals, and other technical documentation as required.
  • Review and verify as-built documentation during project closeout.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation.
  • Attend and participate in company and project meetings as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and report accidents, hazards, and equipment issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current RCDD accreditation with BICSI and a minimum of 5-10 years experience as an RCDD developing communications cabling designs for commercial structures. Strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications, structured cabling, and low-voltage systems, including voice, data, fiber optic, wireless, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of BICSI, TIA, ANSI, NEC, and applicable building and electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to perform detailed material and labor takeoffs and develop accurate project estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with estimating software and construction/telecommunications design software preferred.
  • Experience with Sage 100 contractor preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with sales, operations, and project teams.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and customer locations as required.
