Position Summary

The Financial Assistance Advisor I-Front Counter counsels students and respective family on various types of resources available, eligibility requirements, and university costs. Advisors provide excellent service and a friendly atmosphere while being accountable for following Federal, State and Institutional regulations. The Financial Assistance Advisor I-Front Counter reports to Assistant Director of Financial Assistance.

Job Duties Frontline Customer Service
  • Counsel students and families primarily in a front counter environment. Note that counseling services will also be required at times via Zoom, phone, email, etc…
  • Assist students and respective family with the financial assistance application process.
  • Communicate the types of resources available and the eligibility requirements.
  • Review and explain university costs.
  • Track all contents on comment screen and provide pre-verification support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Scanning
  • Scan and index paperwork into database.
  • Verify effectiveness of scan for historical purposes.
Project Support
  • Provide assistance to larger service team on communications, form enhancements, and website content.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.
Resource Center
  • Manage the Office of Financial Assistance resource center.
  • Ensure materials are updated.
  • Train student workers.
  • Manage communications for visitors.
Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, a positive attitude, and patience.
  • Ability to proactively problem-solve, multi-task, and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to contribute to and support a team effort.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree.

Required Work Experience

A minimum of one (1) year professional experience in customer or student services.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with financial assistance or student services, BANNER , and SQL.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

Work Hours

Mon through Fri 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals, to include some evenings or weekends during peak periods.
