Continuing Education Opportunities View all available benefit options k.Currently hiring in Austin/San Antonio, Texas, North Carolina, or South Carolina ONLY.The Commercial Credit Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and analyzing commercial credit requests to support sound lending decisions and portfolio quality. This role evaluates borrower financial strength, cash flow, collateral, and credit risk for a broad range of commercial relationships—including Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) transactions—in accordance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements.
The Underwriter works closely with Relationship Managers, Commercial Bankers, Commercial Credit Supervisor and the Senior Credit Officer to structure credit requests, identify risks, and recommend appropriate mitigants, while supporting strong customer relationships and consistent credit standards.
What you'll get to do:
Analyze commercial credit requests, including new loans, renewals, modifications, and annual reviews.
Evaluate borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, collateral, and guarantor support.
Identify key credit risks and recommend appropriate risk mitigants and loan structures.
Prepare clear, well‑supported credit memorandums with approval recommendations.
Assign and support accurate internal risk ratings.
Ensure compliance with Bank credit policy and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Commercial Bankers, Commercial Underwriter Supervisor and Senior Credit Officers to structure transactions and resolve credit questions.
Manage assigned underwriting pipeline to meet service-level expectations.
Limited travel may be required (up to 20%).Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educations and
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field3–7 years of commercial credit underwriting experience
Experience underwriting C&I and/or CRE loans.
Strong working knowledge of financial statement and cash‑flow analysis
Familiarity with credit platforms such as Moody’s Analytics, Sageworks, and/or nCino preferred.
Solid understanding of credit risk management principles and regulatory expectations
Knowledge of credit, financial analysis, structuring, underwriting, portfolio management and analytical skills, including financial accounting, modeling, and loan structuring.
