Sales and Use Tax Accountant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Tax Responsibilities

* Accumulates, reviews, and compiles transaction data to accurately and timely file Multi-State Sales tax returns

* Reconciles sales tax general ledger accounts

* Performs tax research and consults on sales tax issues relating to different transactions and operational changes in the business

* Monitors changes in tax law to ensure compliance with multiple state laws

* Maintains Exemption Certificates and Resale Certificates

* Analyzes and monitors Direct Pay Permit policies and procedures

* Conducts self-audits for multiple divisions to ensure compliance with sales and use tax laws

* Manages the process for meeting sales tax audit requirements including planning, accumulating information requests and addressing all audit findings

Use Tax Responsibilities

* Prepares and files various tax forms related to the trucking divisions to include IFTA Tax, Heavy Use Tax, and annual Fuel Tax Reports

* Reconciles Use tax general ledger accounts

* Performs Use tax research and consults on issues relating to different transactions and operational changes in the business

Other Areas of Responsibility

* Provides sales and use tax training to corporate and division office personnel

* Assist with special projects as required
