XPEL is seeking a Payroll Analyst to join our team in San Antonio, TX. The right person will enjoy a fast-paced environment and is a proactive problem solver that wants to contribute to the success of the company. We are seeking a team member with a strong operational accounting background and strong Workday Payroll experience. You will be an integral part of a growing, publicly traded, multi-national company, will learn and grow constantly, and be supported in all steps of the process by the team and leadership.
Responsibilities- Verify accuracy of multiple weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly US and international payrolls including manual payments, employee changes, wage orders/liens, garnishments, misc. deductions, and payroll reports (including storage/backup).
- Transmit payroll files for processing.
- Assist employees or managers with questions about payroll policies and pay discrepancies.
- Complete new hire setup in payroll systems.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end W-2s or other related tax filings or reports.
- Handle complex issues and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
- Input changes to personnel information or tax law, overtime or bonus payments or calculations.
- Oversee preparation and processing of all payroll processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform consistent and accurate audits on employee payroll records and employee payroll tax records to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Work with federal, state, and local compliance and taxation agencies and verify city, state, and federal reports are filed on time and accurately (quarterly, annually, W-2s, etc.).
- Regularly report/filing 401(k), HSA, WA L&I, Canada workmen’s comp, Canada CPA union, and Canada RRSP.
- Provide training to managers as needed relating to Time and Attendance.
- Maintain time system such as submission of tax notices, verification of tax notices handled by third parties correctly, addition of PTO plans, addition of new hire PTO, verification of yearly PTO accruals, and yearly SUI rate changes.
- Assist with acquisitions and implementations.
- Act as liaison between Accounting, HR, and payroll.
- Monitor processes, recommend improvements, and implement improvements.
- Create and modify process documentation and checklists.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Government Laws and Regulations.
- Process general ledger (GL) entries, reconcile payroll GL accounts, and support Accounting team as required.
- Handle other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of multi-state, end-to-end payroll processing experience.
- Previous Workday Payroll experience is required.
- Expert or intermediate Excel skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Analytical, critical thinking skills and strong proven problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Workday Super User preferred.
- International payroll experience highly desirable but not required.
- Bilingual in Spanish, French, German, or Dutch highly desirable but not required.
