Purpose

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to multi-task, prioritize and organize.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and prepare budget and financial documents for the Budget Office.
  • Review and analyze budget information prepared by departments and assist in the preparation of the University's annual operating budget.
  • Act as the initial point of contact to departmental users of the budget system; and provide advice and technical assistance for all aspects of budget preparation, policy, analysis, and review.
  • Assist in year-end processing as needed.
  • Review HCM transactions via Workday and budget adjustments/transfers via DEFINE accounting system for required UT System reporting. This includes preparing consent agenda items and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Prepare transactions via DEFINE accounting system and Workday as needed.
  • Assist with preparing, processing, and tracking commitments made by the President, Provost, and University Budget Council.
  • Assist with the Legislative Appropriations Request.
  • Reconcile accounts and monitor revenue and expenditure budgets.
  • Generate reports to analyze budget and financial operations.
  • Interpret and validate report and accounting data as it relates to the budget and analyze trends.
  • Review and update policies and procedures.
  • Respond to special requests, develop ad hoc reports, and other duties as assigned.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or other business related fields.
  • Two years of experience in budget analysis and/or analysis of other accounting or financial data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Work as a team member, with confidential information, in multi-tasked environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to research problems and to suggest creative solutions.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Regular, punctual attendance.
