Job Summary:
Corporate Tax is responsible for managing an organization's tax strategy, compliance, and planning to ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations while optimizing the company's tax position. Professionals in this job family play a key role in minimizing tax liabilities, managing risk, and supporting business decisions through accurate tax analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities &Essential Functions:
- Oversee preparation and review of corporate income tax returns and other required submissions (includes Federal and State Corporate, Partnerships, Excise, and others).
- Manage quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Coordinate with external advisors and internal stakeholders during tax audits and examinations.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the company's operations and reporting.
- Support tax planning initiatives to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
- Lead implementation of tax technology tools and process improvements.
- Supervise, coach, and develop Corporate Tax Accountants
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance

Key Requirements:
Leads supervisors and/or less experienced professionals (2 or more) who exercise latitude and independence. May lead one or more teams or departments, making decisions based on business objectives and allocated resources, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments. Executes and modifies company policies, implementing new standards, products, processes, and mid-term business plans for assigned unit(s).
Directs team to complete objectives-oriented assignments by looking beyond existing methodologies and implementing strategic policies to resolve complex issues with significant cross-functional impact. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the group/function.
Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals will result in critical delays in schedules and/or group operations which may jeopardize overall business activities.
Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance/pay reviews.
Work Experience:- Experience in corporate tax or public accounting, including federal and state income tax compliance and tax accounting.
- Experience leading projects, managing deadlines, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing or supervising tax professionals.
- Strong understanding of tax principles and accounting practices
- Understanding of corporate tax regulations
- Expertise in tax software and ERP systems
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and leadership
- Advanced organizational skills and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate in team environment
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant field of education and/or work experience leading successful projects and coaching/mentoring others in a group or team/department
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Completion of H-E-B leadership programs where applicable
Working Conditions:
- Function in a fast-paced, office environment
