As a Beauty Shop Operator, you will provides cosmetology services to Beauty Shop patrons in accordance with industry standards and practices, management policies, and Texas Cosmetology Commission Regulations.

What you will do in this role:

Performs requested cosmetology services offered, to include: shampoos, cuts, styling, blow drying, roller sets, teasing, curling irons, perms, curling, hair color, high lights, foil and cap, pedicure, manicure, acrylic nails, gel nails, and waxing.

Provides services to Freedom House residents either in the Beauty Shop or in their room, if necessary.

Cleans and sanitizes equipment and keeps work area clean, safe, and orderly, meeting all guidelines as required by the Texas Cosmetology Commission.

Notes changes in the appearance or behaviors of residents and promptly reports them to the Supervisor.

Stays abreast of industry trends, products, styles, and services, in order to maintain professional currency and proficiency, provide residents with the latest services, and keep the Beauty Shop competitive with other salons.

Ensures all chemicals are properly stored and secured; complies with all safety guidelines in the use of products and chemicals in the beauty shop environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in a salon, providing beauty salon services to the elderly and frail is required.

Must hold a current license issued by the Texas Cosmetology  1970, the first of our two campuses opened in San Antonio. Air Force Village I was followed in 1987 by Air Force Village II. For decades, our campuses created a community for officers of the armed forces - a retirement lifestyle rich with camaraderie and the shared common bond. We began by providing support to the widows of those who have served, and that legacy continues.

In 2014, we expanded our eligibility to embrace a wider range of retired seniors, including those from civilian careers. With this change, a new name - Blue Skies of Texas - was added, and the campuses were renamed Blue Skies East and Blue Skies West. Continuing to offer modern residences and a range of senior-focused services and amenities, the Air Force Village legacy we cherish carries forward in Blue Skies of Texas.
