Position: PRN Pharmacist - San Antonio (21128)

Overview

The Staff Pharmacist supports all daily pharmacy operations and ensures compliance with applicable pharmacy laws, rules, regulations, policies, best practices, and standard operating procedures. The position includes supervision of technicians, business, and clerical staff along with performing staff pharmacist duties.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharm or Pharm

    D degree.
  • Licensed and registered pharmacist in Texas.
  • ACPE-accredited IV certification.
  • Pharmacy supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Long-term Care pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, direct, and at times, delegate tasks.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language is required.
  • Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts.
Essential Functions
  • Performance of staff pharmacist duties.
  • Function as a Team Leader and Role Model of Cantex high ethical standards and code of conduct.
  • Ensure delivery of quality pharmacy services to all patients and facilities.
  • Identify and resolve operational problems that impact productivity and pharmacy effectiveness.
  • Assist in defining and implementing strategic plans for continued pharmacy growth and business evolution.
  • Acknowledge and interpret customer needs; identify quality and service-oriented customer solutions; share key findings with staff.
  • Answer incoming communications in a timely manner and integrate other excellent customer service activities.
  • Collaborate with other pharmacy staff to anticipate and interpret customer needs and business challenges.
  • Maintain a working environment that promotes respect and dignity among patient and staff populations.
  • Build confidence and respect of others through a positive and energizing style.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all pharmacy staff, superiors, other healthcare providers, and the public.
  • May assist with recruitment, selection, verification, and training of competent and appropriately licensed, registered, and/or certified department staff.
  • Help supervise professional employees and/or supervisors, technical staff, clerical staff, and business support staff.
  • Proactively assist with identifying talent internally and externally and actively cross-train staff.
  • Assist with employee evaluations on an annual basis or as otherwise required and provide counseling or disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Actively participate in pharmacy meetings to review departmental issues, expense control, labor control, and other pertinent issues as appropriate or necessary.
  • Make periodic rounds to ensure a safe and sanitary environment, proper systems, maintained physical assets, and appropriate supervision of employees.
  • Recognize development needs and capability gaps in pharmacy and identify specific projects/assignments to address needs.
  • Ensure prescriptions are dispensed in accordance with all Federal and State laws and regulations, SOPs, best practices, and internal policies.
  • Supervise all pharmacy areas and departments, including receiving, filling, packaging, dispensing, delivery, inventory, record-keeping, loss prevention controls, and security.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of pharmaceutical products and supplies, forms, and various office supplies.
  • Demonstrate experience and skill in sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance to pharmacy staff in product preparation, clinical information management, and counseling activities.
  • Use reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer questions posed by customers.
  • Be accountable for managing pharmacy’s financial resources.
  • Compile data and provide cumulative reports on a routine or periodic basis as required by Pharmacy Manager.
