Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct patient care to all patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders; supports a therapeutic setting; and ensures safety and well-being of patients. Carries out general nursing assistance as necessary for treatment of adolescent, adult, or older adult patients as assigned.

• Monitors and assists patients, working under the direction of nursing and medical staff including areas of daily living and activities
• Records and maintains patient information, such as vital signs, eating habits, behavior, and daily observation notes
• Leads and accompanies patients to and from activities, examinations and treatments as assigned
• Assists patients in becoming accustomed to daily routines and encourages them to participate in social and recreational activities to promote rehabilitation
• Under the direction of professional staff, redirects or restrains patients using SAMA techniques in order to prevent injury to themselves or others
• Promptly reports patient issues to the RN on duty
• Performs other related duties as assigned by professional staff

• Education and Licensure
  :
  High School degree (or equivalent). Must possess or obtain a valid CPR certification and SAMA training within 30 days of hire.
• Experience
  :
  Prior psychiatric healthcare experience helpful.
