NSGY Pediatric PA Job Description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the Joe R. Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine (LSOM) UT Health San Antonio is part of a nationally recognized medical center dedicated to promoting education, advancing research, and delivering compassionate patient care of the highest quality. We are searching for likeminded Physician Assistants (PA) to join our team and help us pursue our mission.

The successful candidates will have unique opportunities to work with autonomy and contribute to a team of prominent neuroscience professionals who are highly regarded within their respective specialties. Specifically, the incumbents will perform and provide diagnostic and therapeutic evidence-based practice in inpatient and outpatient settings at some of the best hospitals in the nation’s 7th largest city.

The job requires an ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), commitment to provide par excellence patient care, maintenance of complete and accurate health records, team-player aptitude, conforming to duties assigned, and an alignment with the LSOM’s mission and vision.

This position will assist pediatric neurosurgeons in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of pediatric patients by performing various medical or surgical tasks. The PA will also perform physical examinations centered on neurological examination, order laboratory and medical imaging tests, make preliminary diagnoses, provide treatments, and instruct and counsel patients on various medical neurosurgical related subjects.

Once a level of experience and expertise is established, the PA can have more independence in clinical decision-making based on protocols and plans previously outlined with the physicians.
