SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide bilingual speech-language therapy to pediatric patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders following established standards of practice and ethical principles.
  • Assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans addressing speech, language, fluency, voice, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), feeding, and swallowing disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with families and an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes, ensure continuity of care, and maintain compliance with institutional and professional guidelines.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Intensive Therapy Program by supporting innovative, evidence-based practices designed for high-frequency, short-duration therapy models.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Participate in the development and revision of comprehensive treatment and prevention plans for children with disabilities and those at risk.
  • Attend team meetings and family conferences to present evaluation results, treatment plans, and progress reports to medical team members and families.
  • Educate families and staff on communication, cognitive, feeding, and swallowing disorders to promote carryover and long-term functional gains.
  • Ensure the protection of confidential information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Select and administer age-appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials.
  • Consistently follow documentation protocols and maintain accurate records in compliance with ASHA and organizational standards.
  • Re-evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing therapy and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team model typical of an intensive therapy environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of three (3) years of pediatric experience with an emphasis on feeding/swallowing and AAC.
  • Experience with intensive therapy models in pediatrics or adult inpatient rehabilitation strongly preferred.
  • Successful completion of fieldwork or clinical experience in related areas of practice.
  • Strong bilingual (English/Spanish) communication and documentation skills required.
  • Ability to exert maximum force to lift, push, or carry objects as needed for patient care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, adaptive equipment, and methods to evaluate treatment effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR Certification for Health Care Providers.
