Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides therapeutic support for the Occupational Therapy Coordinator including but not limited to neuro‑disabilities, implementing treatment plans, collecting data, maintaining well‑being and safety of patients, providing education, performing inventory and maintaining supplies.
Working ConditionsGeneral office and sedentary, requiring some time at a keyboard or workstation. Ability to exert a light degree of physical effort including carrying, pushing, pulling, and the assisted lifting of objects and materials up to 25 pounds. Able to move dexterity to assist in caring for others, inspect equipment and train or teach others. Specific vision abilities include close vision and distance vision.
Limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, humidity, temperature and noise extremes, wetness and vibrations. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business‑related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
- Provide occupational therapy services to clients with neuro‑musculoskeletal disabilities under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Collect data during assessment and implement occupational therapy treatment plan designed by the occupational therapist.
- Maintain well‑being and safety of the clients during occupational therapy intervention process.
- Report to the occupational therapist regarding client progress.
- Complete occupational therapy documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the facility’s policies and procedures, professional standards and state requirements.
- Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team to communicate information, develop appropriate home program for clients and resolve issues in compliance with the guidelines to achieve goals.
- Provide education related to Occupational Therapy for clients, families and staff.
- Current skills and knowledge for practice guidelines in conducting treatment sessions in virtual platforms.
- Abide by the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics.
- Observe patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform inventory and maintain supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as delegated, required or requested.
