POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Pharmacy (or designee), the Pharmacy Manager oversees, plans and manages pharmacy services in their assigned functional area or physical location. They will ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient pharmacy services to patients and staff in a highly matrixed and dynamic work environment. The Pharmacy Manager assures compliance with all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to The Joint Commission (TJC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Medicare/Medicaid standards, Texas State Board of Pharmacy, United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) 795/797/800, Department of Public Safety, Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The Pharmacy Manager serves as a role model and ensures operational alignment with organizational strategy and pharmacy best practices. The Pharmacy Manager will maintain good professional relations as a liaison for pharmacy service with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals in resolving problems to optimize patient care, and will assure exceptional customer service at all times to both internal and external customers.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A Pharm.

D. degree or a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy is required. Three years of experience as a pharmacist is preferred. Three years of management or supervisory experience is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and management experience with the ability to effectively supervise and lead teams in a highly matrixed environment. Knowledge of current pharmacy practice standards, laws, and regulations.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency training and/or board certification (e.g, BCPS, BCACP, BCSCP) preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Current Pharmacy licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the state of Texas is required.
