Job Summary and Qualifications
The Centralized Transportation Center Coordinator will monitor and respond to requests for medical transportation from and for all campuses within Methodist Healthcare and referring facilities as directed. Information acquired will be conveyed to both their team members and appropriate Patient Placement Center Coordinator(s) (RN) or referring facility staff to ensure safe transportation of all patients. The Centralized Transportation Center Coordinator will perform all duties identified in their job description and demonstrate proficiency in required hardware, software, and communications equipment and procedures.
They will serve as a member of the healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. The Centralized Transportation Center Coordinator will serve as a patient advocate, exercising critical thinking in the best interest of patient safety. Attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy. Contributes to the growth and development of self and department.
Maintains active involvement. Maintains good working relationship with EMS, clinical and non-clinical facility staff, division and facility leadership, co-workers, and other staff. Maintains competence with charting system. They may not, under any circumstances, perform prohibited functions as listed in the employee handbook.
What you will do in this role:
Facilitate the dispatching of emergent and non-emergent EMS services in and put our Methodist Healthcare for discharged, in coming or outgoing transfer patients
Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives
Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in documentation and communication in dispatch software
Answer and relay patient transport info (not allowed to give or take orders)
Utilize SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) for communication and unit assignment
What qualifications you will need:
Education:
High School DiplomaExperience:
1 year experience as an EMT or Paramedic with an EMS agency OR relevant clinical experience working in a hospital.Current National or State of Texas certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or above. Current BLS Healthcare Provider.
Preferred:
Recent field EMT or Paramedic or hospital experience; and dispatch experience
