Life Enrichment Assistant

Franklin Park Alamo Heights, is seeking someone with experience in memory care and therapeutic recreation to join the staff as Life Enrichment Assistant at our Assisted Living facility.

Pay rate is depending on experience.

• Work directly with residents to help them maintain physical and mental functioning, socialize, and stay engaged in meaningful pastimes. You will provide 1:1 as well as group activities, some of which must be improvised “in the moment” to accommodate resident needs
• Help produce print materials such as calendars and flyers
• Actively facilitate and model the principles of person-centered care, including validation therapy, resident empowerment, and incorporating activities of daily living into structured programming. Remind/assist residents to attend programs that they enjoy
• Help with outings: supervise and assist residents while out of the building
• Help manage special events such as family meetings and holiday parties

• Minimum one year of experience working with older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
• Minimum high school diploma; college-level courses or professional training in therapeutic recreation, gerontology or similar topics strongly preferred
• Equally effective working independently and as part of a team; able to prioritize tasks
• Clean driving record
• Basic computer skills
• Experience in working with the elderly preferred
• Creativity is a must
• Practices tact and courtesy in dealing with residents under sometimes trying conditions. Understands how show patience and understanding.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate ideas and instructions to residents and staff.
