GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant II. Duties include clinical and administrative responsibilities such as assisting physicians with patient care, handling clerical tasks, and providing patients with information to fully benefit from services.
Responsibilities- Fulfills patient care responsibilities including checking schedules and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting with walking transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparing patients for examination; collecting patient history; checking vital signs; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting providers; charting; phone triage; medication administration; relaying instructions; answering calls and providing pertinent information; verifying prescriptions with physician orders.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving medical records, obtaining lab/X‑ray reports, hospital notes, referral information; completing forms/requisitions; scheduling appointments; patient check‑in/check‑out; verifying insurance coverage; managing updates to charts.
- Fulfills organizational responsibilities including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding to emergency codes; communicating patient/staff concerns to immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High‑school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited institution, or a college course in medical assisting. - Experience:
Minimum one year recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant, with documented evidence of externship; experience in a gastroenterology practice preferred. - Level II status:
Intermediate experience (4+ years) or acting independently; takes on additional duties; strong consistent performer. - Performance:
Knowledge of health‑care field and EMR systems; skills in medical assistance tasks, written and verbal communication, patient education; ability to learn, retain, present a professional image, plan, prioritize, multi‑task, and demonstrate compassion.
