Description

Duties include but are not limited to: prepare alcohol or non‑alcohol beverages for pool bar, take food orders and run orders as required, interact with customers, assess customers' needs, recommend items, mix cocktails, plan and present the pool food and beverage menu.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests’ requests.
  • Maintain positive internal and external guest relations at all times.
  • Takes pride in personal appearance and follows hotel grooming guidelines.
  • Be familiar with all Hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and escalating to a manager when necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverage brands and descriptions available in the pool bar; maintain knowledge of wine by the glass, wine list, glassware, garnishes, menu items, preparation methods, ingredients, sauces, presentation and prices.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of pool layout, locations and room numbers/names.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by liquor regulations as per TABC guidelines and provincial liquor codes.
  • Knowledge of daily house count, arrivals/departures and VIPs.
  • Knowledge of scheduled in‑house group activities, locations and times.
  • Maintain knowledge of Toast system and manual systems; access all functions of the Toast system in accordance to specifications.
  • Communicate with all staff members and liaise with associated departments.
  • Complete all daily and weekly duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Set up and maintain proper items and inform the General Manager of any shortages.
  • Take guests’ food & beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques and following all departmental standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of guests’ name and room number of each order.
  • Input orders into system; ensure authorization for room charges; when system is down, obtain manual checks and follow all accounting procedures.
  • Ensure timely delivery of orders.
  • Settle all checks opened under own I.D. number; set all checks before leaving by following proper procedures.
  • Adhere to all room payments and credit policies/procedures.
  • Follow all finance regulations regarding voids, allowances, entertainment, etc.
  • Required to post charges in Toast and keep accurate detailed reports of all transactions.
  • Responsible for cleanliness and organization of pool bar.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all products daily; perform daily and weekly product checks, ensuring expired items are removed, counted and recorded.
  • Perform all other reasonably required job related duties.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of previous experience in a luxury or ultra‑luxury environment.
  • Minimum one year Bartending and Serving experience.
  • Ability to present and conduct oneself professionally and emulate the Hotel Emma Culture.
  • Flexible schedule required, including AM/PM shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid TABC certificate and up‑to‑date food handlers certificate.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing, pushing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restrictions.
  • Schedule will reflect business demands.
