We’re Hiring:
Director of People & Culture

The Director of People & Culture is responsible for leading and supporting all aspects of the employee experience, from recruitment and onboarding to engagement, development, and retention. This role serves as a culture ambassador for GMi and plays a critical role in building a positive, high-performing, and people-focused environment across the organization.

The Director of People & Culture partners closely with leadership, operations, and employees to support company growth, strengthen employee engagement, maintain compliance, and uphold GMi’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead recruiting efforts for hourly and salaried employees, including job postings, interviews, offers, and workforce planning.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for employees within the assigned market.
  • Support employee relations by coaching managers through disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and employee concerns.
  • Serve as a culture ambassador by promoting employee engagement, recognition, and morale initiatives throughout the office and field.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs, celebrations, condolences, and company culture initiatives.
  • Oversee employee development initiatives, reviews, compensation changes, and Employee Development Programs (EDPs).
  • Ensure compliance with hiring processes, background checks, drug screenings, onboarding documentation, and employment verifications.
  • Support and educate employees on company benefits, including ESOP, 401(k), PTO, health insurance, and additional company programs.
  • Manage office operations, including vendors, office supplies, maintenance, travel arrangements, and workplace organization.
  • Plan and coordinate office events, employee functions, career fairs, community involvement, and company-sponsored events.
  • Assist with marketing and promotional initiatives while maintaining GMi brand standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, managers, clients, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to company policies.
  • Contribute strategically to employee retention, engagement, and overall organizational growth.

  • Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and office operations.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and support multiple functions simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to organize events, manage projects, and execute initiatives with attention to detail.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, recruiting platforms, and employee records management preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills preferred.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, Office Management, or a similar role.
  • Experience in the construction industry or a fast-paced operational environment preferred.
