Human Resources Generalist Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist supports the Office of Human Resources operations by performing a wide range of HR functions with efficiency and accuracy. The position assists with the administration and implementation of relevant HR procedures, policies, processes, reports, documentation, and regulations, as well as the preparation of employee events/functions and special projects. The HR Generalist should be knowledgeable and up-to-date with compensation, benefits, handling day-to-day employee relations concerns, and coordinating the recruiting and onboarding process.
The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of HRIS and Compensation.
Note:
position is based in San Antonio, TX, primarily on the Broadway campus, with the potential for hybrid work following orientation and role establishment.
- Administer HR procedures, policies, processes, reports, documentation, and regulations.
- Prepare and coordinate employee events, functions, and special projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compensation and benefits.
- Handle day‑to‑day employee relations concerns.
- Coordinate the recruiting and onboarding process.
- Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., ADA, ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, Title VII, FLSA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and make effective recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leadership, and cross‑functional partners.
- Strong collaboration skills, contributing effectively in a team environment and supporting the coordination of employee events and initiatives.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, interpreting data and making informed decisions.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in complex or sensitive situations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, reporting); strong proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (creating fillable forms, editing documents, securing files).
- Experience with or ability to learn HR systems (Banner) and talent management systems (e.g., People Admin).
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Adherence to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Bachelor's Degree.
Required Work ExperienceTwo (2) years of professional human resources work experience.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working in higher education.

Physical Demands- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs of office/event materials.
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve office/event materials.
- Ability to push/pull event carts holding up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
$52,100 Annualized.
