Overview
Wyetech is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in cloud technologies (AWS), programming skills in Python or Go, and a strong Linux foundation. The role involves developing custom software components, integrating open-source code, and leveraging cutting edge Big Data / Cloud technology. The work is performed in a hybrid environment with a collaborative team. Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required (e.g., Active TS/SCI with polygraph).
Responsibilities- Contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems using Big Data / Cloud technology.
- Act as a strong systems integrator to enhance, optimize, or increase the robustness of an existing code base.
- Define, build, and manage cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code and modern tooling.
- Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship is required. A current government security clearance is not required at start but will be processed for a Secret level clearance as applicable.
- 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Go) with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with an expected average of 2 days per week at the San Antonio office. Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes as needed.
- 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Go) with a related degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
- Experience with Kubernetes (or a vendor flavor).
- Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR) is a plus.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git Lab-CI, Travis-CI, Jenkins).
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Git Hub, Git Lab).
- Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, and virtualization (e.g., oVirt, Proxmz, VMware).
- DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
