Job Description:

Semper Valens Solutions is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a large Air Force, IT enterprise, Cyber Weapons System/Program in San Antonio, TX.

Duties:

• Design, deploy, and manage virtual cloud infrastructures across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud) such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud (IaaS & PaaS).
• Ensure integration of multiple Cloud teams, processes, and instances to meet a holistic solution.
• Maintain and optimize virtualization platforms like VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V, and cloud‑native virtualization solutions.
• Automate deployments and configurations using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Cloud Formation.
• Provision, maintain, and scale cloud resources in AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Monitor cloud resource utilization to ensure cost efficiency and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system, application, and infrastructure issues, performing root cause analysis as needed.
• Ensure infrastructure meets security, compliance, and operational standards within a Dev Sec Ops  framework.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and integrate infrastructure automation into the development lifecycle.
• Implement and manage containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, for microservices architectures.
• Configure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure system and application availability and performance.
• Identify and implement optimizations to improve efficiency, reduce latency, and enhance system uptime.
• Apply security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), network segmentation, and encryption, to protect hybrid cloud infrastructures.
• Assist in audits and compliance initiatives (e.g., RMF, NIST, ISO 27001).
• Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to enhance knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth and development initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required

Skills & Experience:

• Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in virtualization technologies, including VMware, Hyper‑V, and Open Stack.
• Strong expertise in US‑Gov/DoD cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Cloud Formation.
• Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) and incident management.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and firwalls.
• Practical knowledge of Dev Sec Ops  principles, methodologies, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Requires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Must have a DoD‑8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
• Must have an advanced cloud certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Dev Ops Engineer, for example).
• Must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Travel:

Less than 10% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.
