Role Description

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high-performing enterprise networks in support of both internal operations and federal government contracts. This critical role shapes the company’s networking experience and ensures the security, scalability, and reliability of our IT infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer will also mentor junior IT staff, foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture, and support compliance with government security standards.

This is an on-site role in San Antonio, Texas, and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, configure, and maintain enterprise networking solutions (LAN, WAN, VPN, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless).
  • Ensure network performance, resilience, and compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, DISA STIGs, FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Mentor and guide junior IT staff, providing technical leadership and professional development support.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, systems engineering, and program management, to align network solutions with program and mission requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, diagrams, and knowledge repositories to support operational excellence, audit readiness, and support GRC initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of best practices to strengthen company culture and foster collaboration across the IT organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in enterprise networking roles.
  • Experience with network monitoring/ vulnerability management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT or network infrastructure projects with the ability to balance hands-on technical execution and strategic project management.
  • Relevant networking certification (e.g., Cisco CCNP/CCIE, CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIP, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior IT staff.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative and positive teamwork environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense contracts.
  • Knowledge of DISA STIGs, RMF processes, and federal compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or Gov Cloud environments).
  • Prior experience in leadership or technical team lead roles.
Working Conditions

The Senior Network Engineer role is based on-site in San Antonio, Texas. Occasional overtime may be required to meet program deadlines or resolve critical issues. Some travel may be required for government program support, meetings, or training. This position requires extended periods of computer use, troubleshooting in data center environments, and frequent collaboration with team members both virtually and in person.
