The Director of IT is responsible for designing, securing, optimizing, and future-proofing the company’s technology ecosystem. This role ensures that all systems—from computers and networks to restaurant platforms and emerging AI tools—work together to support excellent operations, strong decision-making, and scalable growth. Most importantly, this role provides operation support and keeps systems up and running during service hours.
This is both a hands‑on and strategic role, focused on helping the organization fully leverage its technology resources rather than simply maintaining them.
RequirementsCore Responsibilities
- Technology Infrastructure & Support (Foundational)
- Computers, networks, Wi‑Fi, servers, and cloud services
- AV, audio, and in‑restaurant technology
- POS hardware and peripherals
- Ensure reliability, uptime, and fast resolution of issues
- Establish IT standards, documentation, and best practices
- Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Risk Management
- Access controls
- Data security and backups
- Vendor security standards
- Train leadership and staff on safe technology practices
- Reduce risk related to payments, guest data, and employee information
Serve as the integrator for all major systems.
Experience with the following is preferred but not required:
Microsoft 365, Toast, Restaurant
365, Paylocity.
- Ensuring systems are configured and used to their full capabilities
- Improving data flow and integration between platforms
- Partnering with Finance and Operations to:
- Improve reporting accuracy
- Reduce manual work
- Surface insights faster
- Operational Intelligence & Automation
- Automate repetitive tasks
- Improve scheduling, labor forecasting, and inventory workflows
- Enhance reporting dashboards for leadership
- Help teams move from reactive reporting to proactive insight
- Digital Strategy & AI Enablement
- AI tools for operations, forecasting, training, and guest engagement
- Digital outreach and CRM integrations
- Educate leadership on what is useful vs. hype
- Pilot tools that improve efficiency, decision-making, and guest experience
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Management & Operations on operational systems and execution
- CFO on data integrity, reporting, and controls
- CEO on digital strategy, innovation, and future-readiness
- Ensure technology decisions align with culture, brand, and growth plans
- 5-10+ years of experience leading IT in hospitality, retail, or multi‑unit operations
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or business technology is preferred but not required
- Deep familiarity with restaurant technology stacks
- Strong understanding of POS ecosystems, accounting and payroll integrations, and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Comfortable evaluating and implementing AI and emerging tools
- Able to think strategically while remaining hands‑on
- Experience creating dashboards and reporting tools
- Exposure to AI tools for forecasting, training, guest engagement, and operations optimization
