Overview
Senior Network Engineer - CONUS to support a government customer. Responsibilities include high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure for DHA networked facilities and serving as a subject matter expert for network issues.
Responsibilities- Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN equipment.
- Serve as the premier Network Specialist for the contract; be the CONUS and global point of contact for network issues, configuration management and interconnection, addressing and multi-protocol routing.
- Advise and consult with government staff, agencies and contractor representatives on LAN/WLAN/WAN design, deployment and management to support MHS mission and performance.
- Lead/coordinate with Network Specialists and external organizations to resolve LAN/WLAN/WAN issues.
- Resolve technical issues related to network and routing protocols across OSI layers using tools such as Solar Winds, ARMIS, and Ansible; understand MIB and MRTG for performance monitoring and planning.
- Maintain LAN/WLAN/WAN security, configure firewalls, VPN devices and IDSs; document changes via tickets or standards updates in coordination with NetMOD Network Standards Team.
- Study vendor products to determine components/configurations meeting DoD and MTF requirements; establish LAN/WLAN/WAN procedures and standards to ensure compliance with DoD and DHA objectives.
- Communicate with key customers on the status of network support requests; participate in other projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, technical discipline, or related field, with five (5) years directly related experience; or completion of a certified technical/vocational program and 10 years of related experience.

Certifications:
DOD 8570 IAM III Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). - Experience with DoD Health Care Information Systems; expertise in Windows networks, Cisco systems, and Solar Winds; knowledge of Zero Trust Architectures is desirable.
- TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BIND; routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF; WAN/LAN technologies including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ATM;
DoD/DoD-like network media and standards. - Experience with OTDRs, cable testers, network sniffers and EIA/TIA cable standards; routed, switched and shared LAN environments; use of Windows AD, UNIX, and OpenVMS; routers, switches, terminal servers; local and long-haul WANs.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot using network management tools (e.g., Solar Winds) and to interpret MIBs and MRTG metrics.
- Experience configuring network security controls (firewalls, VPNs, IDSs) and documenting changes.

Target salary range: $110,000 – $150,000. Salary is an estimate and may be influenced by education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract parameters and organizational requirements.
