The Learning Technologies Specialist I provides skilled technology assistance in the operation, maintenance, and repair of hardware and software utilized in the learning environment. The specialist develops, implements, and supports innovative online and technology‑enhanced educational experiences, including course design, learning management systems, and digital pedagogies for distance education.
Core Responsibilities- Prepares, operates, and maintains classroom and special event technology.
- Installs, operates, adjusts, and maintains classroom technology used in the learning environment including computers, projectors, monitors, audio systems, cameras, recording systems, and document cameras in classrooms, labs, and conference rooms.
- Diagnoses and analyzes technology issues in the learning environment, including computer hardware/software, wired/wireless networks, and audiovisual equipment.
- Loads, reimages and tests classroom computer images, and provides technical support for networking and installation of classroom computers.
- Provides assistance to university clients; administers, troubleshoots, and loads approved software not standard on the classroom image.
- Oversees classroom transmission in university‑supported distance learning facilities.
- Provides technology support for university‑approved special events.
- Trains faculty, staff, students, and visitors in the proper use and care of equipment and software.
- Provides well‑thought‑out technology solutions to university faculty, staff, and students with management assistance.
- Delivers equipment to enhance the learning environment when not permanently installed.
- Assists in large‑scale technology installation projects under management direction.
- Communicates with faculty and staff regarding classroom technology issues, concerns, and updates.
- Promotes safety and environmental protection by reporting unsafe situations and participating in safety training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, vocational training, or apprenticeship in a related field.
- One year of related work experience.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
- Background check required; verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record may be required.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
