Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support the GSM‑O II program in San Antonio, TX. This role focuses on administration, maintenance, and enhancement of DISA enterprise Linux systems, with an emphasis on monitoring platforms and automation. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), scripting, and enterprise system operations in a secure DoD environment.
Location: San Antonio, TX
Responsibilities:- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux systems (RHEL) supporting DISA operations.
- Perform advanced command‑line troubleshooting, system tuning, and performance optimization.
- Manage system configurations, services, and processes using tools such as systemd
, package managers, and kernel parameters. - Configure and maintain system security including firewall management (firewalld, iptables) and access controls.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash and Python
. - Support deployment, configuration, and scaling of monitoring tools such as OpenNMS (Meridian/Horizon).
- Manage and tune thresholds, alarms, and dashboards for enterprise monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support system upgrades, patching, and performance improvements.
- Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience administering Linux systems in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Advanced knowledge of Linux CLI, troubleshooting, and system performance tuning.
- Experience with scripting (Bash and/or Python) for automation.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools and network management concepts.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in operational environments.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) required
- RHCSA or RHCE certification preferred.
- Active Secret security clearance required.
- Experience with OpenNMS (Meridian or Horizon) and network monitoring solutions.
- Experience configuring SNMP, WMI, JMX, and distributed monitoring architectures.
- Pay range: $75,000 - $90,000 (Based on years of relevant experience)
