Data Scientist

Overview

The annual compensation range is $29.33 to $41.06 per hour, with starting pay determined by factors including market data, education, experience, and internal equity.

• Participates in the design, implementation and dissemination of advanced analytics and data science projects.
• Advises key stakeholders to provide analysis and insights that enable data‑driven decision‑making.
• Supports development and evolution of advanced statistical and mathematical methods, including machine learning capabilities.
• Collaborates with team members to solve complex problems and implement robust, scalable analytics solutions across the enterprise.
• Translates complex data into insights and compelling stories for internal and external stakeholders.
• Presents data models, analyses and visuals, including dynamic visuals such as dashboards; iterates based on feedback.
• Understands project requirements and designs analytical solutions to support clinical and research needs.
• Develops data science solutions to support analytical efforts and expand dashboard capabilities.
• Develops and manages project plans, executes and evolves them, and develops preliminary analyses and prototypes.
• Analyzes and models structured data and applies advanced statistical methods; develops robust, reproducible data preparation and enrichment processes.
• Writes, tests and deploys queries and API connections to internal and external databases.
• Cleans and manipulates data for usability; designs and builds data marts and data warehouses to support reporting.
• Links data from multiple sources and stores it in query-friendly formats.
• Maintains knowledge of tools and technologies used in related functional areas and develops prototypes of data models, ML pipelines, dashboards and reporting.
• Cultivates new data sources to provide insights for research and decision‑making.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Math, Information Science or related field and 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Considerable experience with relational databases preferred.

• Strong attention to detail, creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Analytic, qualitative and quantitative data analysis abilities; ability to break down complex problems into phased deliverables.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks with limited oversight.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with ability to describe data science concepts to lay audiences.
• Proficiency with Python (or R) and machine/deep learning libraries.
• Fluency with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Spotfire or PowerBI is preferred.
