Computer Technician

Primary
Purpose:
Provides technical support, installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and
lifecycle management for district technology devices, software, cloud-based services, and
network-connected equipment. Supports Windows, ChromeOS, Google Workspace for Education, classroom
technology, and cybersecurity initiatives, delivering exceptional customer service to district
staff. Assists in maintaining secure, reliable, and efficient technology operations across all
district campuses and departments.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
? High School Diploma or GED
? Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
? Valid CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification preferred
? Google Certified Education Support Professional certification preferred
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
? Operating Systems & Platforms:
Proficiency with ChromeOS, Windows 10/11, macOS, and iOS/iPadOS
environment management.
? Cloud & Directory Services:
Hands-on experience with Google Workspace for Education Applications
(Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Slides, Meet, and Classroom) and Microsoft 365 / Active Directory.
? Device Management:
Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, zero-touch
deployment, and high-volume hardware diagnostic/repair (screens, batteries, motherboards).
? Classroom AV:
Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot projectors, Interactive Flat Panels
(IFPs), wireless display technology, document cameras, and audio systems.
? Networking & Hardware:
Knowledge of local area networks (LAN), wireless access points (WAPs),
network cabling, patch panels, and fundamental IP networking.
? Cybersecurity & Privacy:
Familiarity with basic cybersecurity hygiene, endpoint protection
software, phishing awareness, and data privacy laws (FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, and Texas SB 820
guidelines).
? State Testing Support:
Familiarity with online state testing platforms (Cambium/STAAR, TELPAS)
and secure browser deployments.
? Customer Service:
Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills;
ability to deliver empathetic, patient support to non-technical staff and students.
Experience:
? Minimum two years of technical support experience in an enterprise or educational environment
installing, maintaining, and repairing computer hardware, peripherals, and software.

General

Technical Support & Device Management
1. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and software issues across Chromebooks, laptops,
desktops, tablets, printers, and peripherals.
2. Deploy, manage, and maintain mobile student and staff devices using Mobile Device Management
(MDM) tools and the Google Admin Console.
3. Manage hardware warranty repairs, parts inventory, and Chromebook replacement life cycles.
4. Use the district work order system to record, prioritize, resolve, and document Tier 1/2
technical requests in accordance with established service level agreements.
5. Assist with campus preparation, hardware deployment, and technical support for online state
testing windows (STAAR, TELPAS, NWEA MAP).
Installation & Classroom Infrastructure
1. Install, configure, and maintain classroom technology, including Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs),
document cameras, sound systems, and streaming devices.
