Responsibilities Job Summary

As a Senior Systems Developer, you'll coach / mentor junior Developers in techniques, processes, and new technologies, facilitate technical communications with vendors and Operations teams. You will stay ahead of new technologies; assist with plans to keep tech sustainment items current and supported; recommend changes to processes and tools based on industry standards, patterns, and practices.

• Demonstrates expert knowledge in areas of focus and coaches / mentors others on techniques, processes, and technologies.
• Plays a role in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent at H-E-B.
• Proactively seeks out opportunities for personal / professional development and looks for ways to share learnings with others.
• Stays ahead of new and emerging technologies and vendor solutions and shares knowledge to keep the team updated and skilled. Researches and evaluates emerging technologies, evaluates applicability (ROI, Impact) for H-E-B.
• Stays aware of and influences technical roadmaps; works within the team to ensure alignment with the business.
• Demonstrates sound knowledge of domain-specific industry best practices and standards;
  Able to apply that knowledge to process and technology improvements at H-E-B.
• Awareness of COTS / SaaS vendor functional / technical roadmaps.
• Proactively identifies gaps / opportunities to leverage technology to improve processes and efficiencies.

• Leads efforts for successful implementation of COTS systems;
  Applies awareness of all affected systems / applications to support implementation, end-to-end system integration, stabilization, and production support transition.
• Leads reviews of functional design / requirements to identify technical risks and obstacles.
• Independently conducts technical reviews for COTS, SaaS, and cloud-based solutions;
  Ensures solutions meet H-E-B standards.
• With guidance, provides accurate duration / effort estimates; ensures technical teams stay on track, on schedule, and on budget.
• Supports and may occasionally lead efforts in system development and maintenance, ensuring optimal use of resources.
• Facilitates awareness of and alignment on technical design and needed resources with Foundational Technology teams.
• Supports test planning / test case development; identify required technical tasks to support testing; prepare environments to support SIT / UAT execution and training.
• Provides support during escalation of medium urgency, moderate complexity incidents without prompting;
  Contributes to activities to permanently address root causes of recurring issues.
• Proactively designs / implements automated system monitoring and alerting solutions; identifies engineering tools that facilitate systems management.
• Demonstrates awareness of cross-domain (upstream / downstream) functional / technical dependencies (business processes, supporting technology, and contacts).
• Demonstrates sound technical knowledge of the full architectural stack and able to support all aspects of the technical stack with expertise in one or more areas of the stack.
• Knowledgeable in data architecture, data modeling, database operations / efficiency / tuning and SQL.
• Knowledgeable / capable of adopting proprietary languages / frameworks (examples: X++, Ladder Logic, MA Pro Active).
• Knowledgeable on multiple languages, technologies, frameworks, and general software development concepts / trends / best practices and serves as mentor to junior developers.
• Independently develops / implements small to medium domain-specific applications to fill gaps between large COTS systems; design system funnels to route analytical data for reporting.
• Develops comprehensive technical documentation and training for system enhancements.
• Ability to assess level of impact and works to minimize technical debt (risk management, agility, etc.).
• Assists with plans to keep tech sustainment items current and supported;
  Recommends changes to processes and tools at the group / department level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices.
• Contributes to cost reduction and management of technical solutions (hardware / software maintenance).
• Effectively leads technical conversations with Business / stakeholders, vendors cross-functional and supporting teams across H-E-B.
