Position Summary

The Systems Analyst/Programmer is responsible for providing support in maintaining academic and student-facing platforms, including learning management, CRM , and student advising systems. The Systems Analyst/Programmer reports to the Associate Director of Enterprise Support.

Job Duty Name Development and Customization
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom scripts, automation workflows, and configurations that extend platform functionality.
  • Build and support data pipelines, imports, and batch processes to support enrollment, student success, and academic operations.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and data exports that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Job Duty Name Business Analysis and Project Support
  • Partner with functional offices to gather, document, and translate business requirements into technical specifications and system configurations.
  • Support project planning, testing, and go-live activities for system implementations, migrations, and feature rollouts.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing ( UAT ), troubleshoot defects, and coordinate resolution with vendors and internal teams.
Job Duty Name User Support and Training
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for platform-related issues, serving as a first point of contact for end users while escalating complex issues to vendors or senior technical staff with thorough documentation.
  • Approach all support interactions with a customer service mindset, responding with urgency, empathy, and clear communication regardless of issue complexity.
  • Troubleshoot system errors, configuration issues, access problems, and integration failures across supported platforms; follow issues through to resolution and communicate outcomes to affected users.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of platform roadmaps and communicate relevant updates to functional stakeholders.

  • Participate in maintaining technical documentation including system configurations, data dictionaries, integration maps, and process workflows.
  • Adhere to IT governance policies, data privacy regulations ( FERPA , GLBA ), and institutional security standards.
  • Participate in change management processes and ensure system changes are properly reviewed, tested, and communicated.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for mission-critical third-party systems such as document imaging, workflow, and job scheduler systems.

Qualifications

Knowledge

Skills and Abilities
  • Basic SQL knowledge or a demonstrated commitment to developing SQL proficiency within the first year of employment to support troubleshooting and data validation tasks.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to treat every support interaction as an opportunity to build trust, respond with patience, empathy, and clarity regardless of issue complexity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to helping others-this role interacts daily with students, faculty, and staff across the institution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively explain technical concepts in plain language to non-technical users.
