Under general supervision, responsible for providing journey-level skills in the repair and maintenance of equipment. Performs all work in accordance with established safety requirements and procedures.

• Repairs/maintains machinery and mechanical equipment to include motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners and other parts.
• Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble and disassembles to repair or replace broken parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
• Maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in working order to include cleaning/lubricating parts, ordering replacement parts and inspecting completed repairs.
• Assists with maintaining inventory to include requisitioning new parts and equipment.
• Completes installation of equipment and building systems.
• Assists trade personnel or hired contractors in the performance of duties in designated areas.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
• Ability to perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• Three (3) years experience as a mechanic in a related field is required.

• Valid TX Driver's License is required - must have a clear driving record.

Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
