Part Time Custodian (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM)- San Antonio, TX
Your Mission

Under the supervision of the Campus Operations leader, as a Custodian at Compass Rose, your mission is to help create a clean, safe, and fully operational physical environment that supports student learning and reflects our commitment to world-class education.

Clean and Operate Campus Facilities

• Perform general cleaning: dusting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, window washing, and maintaining classrooms, offices, and other school spaces.
• Conduct trash removal duties, including breakfast and lunch waste management in a fast-paced environment.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, side-by-side scrubbers, and carpet shampooers.
• Complete multiple daily restroom cleanings to meet sanitation standards.
• Climb ladders (up to 6 ft) for cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Conduct daily checks of exterior doors, logging and reporting issues.

Minor Maintenance & Emergency Response

• Perform light facility maintenance: patching walls, painting, caulking, and basic repairs using hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches).
• Respond quickly to emergencies such as spills, leaks, or floods.
• Perform minor repairs to fixtures and equipment when needed.
• Maintain organized and safe custodial closets and storage areas.

Support Campus Operations

• Assist with room setup and breakdown for events and school activities.
• Move or rearrange furniture, desks, and equipment as needed.
• Ensure the safety and security of buildings and grounds during shifts.
• Assist at other campuses or sites when requested.
• Communicate professionally with school staff, students, vendors, and supervisors.
• Utilize communication tools effectively: (ie, Slack, email, and text messaging.)

Health & Safety Compliance

• Follow all school safety policies and protocols.
• Complete required school safety training.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Ensure OSHA compliance, especially with chemical handling.
• Report safety hazards or concerns immediately.

Inventory & Supplies Management

• Monitor janitorial supply usage and reduce waste through cost-effective practices.
• Keep accurate inventory logs.
• Coordinate with the Campus Operations Leader and Director of Auxiliary Operations to order supplies within budget guidelines.

• Able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical labor throughout the day.
• Flexible with schedule—available for morning, evening, and occasional weekend shifts.
• Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and no unexcused absences.
• Detail-oriented and adaptable to changing tasks and priorities.
• Professional in conduct, especially around students and staff.
• Willing to learn and grow; basic maintenance knowledge is a plus.
• Responsive and clear communicator, able to use digital tools effectively.
• Team-oriented, dependable, and proactive in problem-solving.
• Committed to frugality and sustainability in operations.

Your schedule

• Full time or Part Time available
• Non-exempt
• 12 months

Compensation and Benefits

• $15-$16 per hour
