Overview

Under the leadership of the Senior Operations Manager, the Safety Coordinator plans and coordinates the operations of an organization. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. The Safety Coordinator must have the skills, knowledge and experience to coordinate all aspects of organizational lines of business.

Must have a Valid Driver's License and obtain/maintain security clearance.

Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations related to hazardous materials, waste handling, and environmental safety compliance.
  • Experience with hazardous materials identification, handling, storage, and reporting requirements in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide a safe and positive teamwork environment in support of the organization's objectives, mission and core values to provide employment opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities.
  • Manage the day-to-day Safety Program effectively and efficiently and ensure the work is performed in accordance with the organization’s established guidelines.
  • Implement a safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branches, Federal, state, and local safety, environmental and health requirements.
  • Implement a written site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1.
  • Develop organizational strategies by identifying and researching root cause analysis and provide contributing information and recommendations that align with organizational objectives.
  • Fully implement and manage all phases and provisions of the TRDI Safety Control and Safety System and related documents; serve as the liaison with parties outside the organization on all matters relating to Health and Safety.
  • Provide updates on the performance and needed improvements of the Safety System to Senior Management.
  • Audit the suitability and effectiveness of the company's Safety System and review and approve all Safety System documents; identify and provide annual training needs for all personnel across the organization.
  • Write/update/enforce Policies and Standard Operating Procedures when work steps are necessary for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the company Safety System.
  • Manage the organization's workers’ compensation program; report and review all job-related injuries.
  • Provide project managers with proper documentation to execute investigations on all job-related incidents.
  • When a trend of job-related injuries occurs, provide project managers with training tools to prevent or minimize incidents and assist in accommodations for employees returning to work with restrictions.
  • Implement OPSEC Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Plan; manage the Fleet Vehicle Safety Program.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • OSHA 500
    - Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
  • OSHA 510
    - Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
  • OSHA 200
    - Hazard Recognition in Construction
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to effectively delegate and develop team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle internal and external conflicts
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and procedures
  • Knowledge of wage and hour laws
  • Advanced knowledge of various Risk/Safety systems
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
