What You Will Do

The Portfolio Manager Supervisor is responsible for supervising the commercial portfolio management personnel and activities. In coordination with management, schedules, prioritizes, and distributes workflow and makes recommendations to improve performance and efficiencies. Coaches, trains, and counsels employees to ensure the highest level of accuracy are achieved in portfolio management activities. Supervisor completes, reviews, and approves covenant tests and periodic reviews in accordance with policy and granted authority per procedures guidelines.

Supports management with the assignment and review of annual loan reviews and provides feedback to portfolio managers as needed. Makes recommendation on financial reporting, covenant testing requirements and definitions, risk rating changes and other waivers submitted for approval, to ensure the request is appropriate, does not jeopardize the ability to test covenants, analyze the borrower/credit in the future, or otherwise unduly increase the risk to the Credit Union.

Reviews forbearances/modifications other related documentation to ensure compliance with approval memo, current loan policy and underwriting guidelines, and/or that exceptions to policy/guidelines are identified and properly mitigated as deemed necessary. Ensures recommends adequate staffing levels for optimal efficiency and to maintain service levels in support of the management of the portfolio to upper management. Provides comprehensive and continuous training to employees and supports them with appropriate resources and tools conducive to a highly productive and favorable work environment.

Ensures policies, procedures, practices, regulations, and documentation requirements are being followed. Assists with Special Projects as needed. Completes any other job-related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

What We Require

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience. A minimum of five (5) years of commercial portfolio management or eight (8) years of commercial credit underwriting or comparable combination of portfolio management, underwriting, and loan administration experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience with commercial loans and underwriting may meet qualifications. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, plus a good understanding of the Internet environment.

Excellent planning and time management skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills including verbal, written, and presentational skills. Able to work with all levels of management. Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to meet and manage critical deadlines and assist with project management. Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment. Take initiative and make independent decisions in the best interest of the Credit Union and Member.

Ideal

Candidate Will Have

Strong knowledge of commercial lending products, credit policy, loan documentation and administration requirements and legal and regulatory guidelines. Able to interpret credit union and regulatory policy and guidelines to prevent issues and errors. Analyze and interpret complex documents, to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to empathize and effectively respond to sensitive issues or complaints mitigating potential escalation utilizing independent judgement and initiative in developing appropriate solutions to problems.

Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of federal, state and NCUA regulations as well as commercial loan documentation experience or equivalent experience in a financial industry. Professional appearance, demonstration of poise and tact and a pleasant courteous personality.
