** Summary
* * Under direction, is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Clothing/Property unit; establishes and modifies work schedules; oversees inmate clothing/property; maintains inmate clothing/property supply and fixed-asset inventories; troubleshoots equipment problems; prepares and submits reports; assists with preparation of unit budget; monitors work unit contracts; and performs related duties as required.

* Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Supervises, trains and evaluates Clothing Technicians; organizes and selects individuals for monthly training and reports completed training
* Oversees and trains Clothing Technicians and inmates assigned to the Clothing/Property unit at the Main Jail and Jail Annex
* Establishes and modifies work schedules and procedures to meet shift workload demands; conducts shift realignment
* Oversees the daily receiving and issuing of inmate clothing/property; the receipt, safe-keeping, and release of all inmate medications; the disposal of medications with the Pharmacy department
* Maintains inmate clothing/property supply and fixed-asset inventories
* Troubleshoots, coordinates repair, and replacement of clothing equipment; develops and maintains service contracts and warranties with different vendors
* Prepares and submits various clothing/property weekly activity reports; training reports; and daily strength reporting submits an annual state of the Clothing Department briefing
* Prepares the annual Clothing Department unit budget; submits budget documents; assesses changes from year to year; forecasts capital equipment requirements; submits unfunded requirements during the execution year
* Assists Jail Support Services Manager with Division budget
* Monitors work unit contracts to ensure vendor compliance and develops specifications and recommendations for new contracts; obtains additional price quotes on change orders in or outside of the budget cycle
* Responds to complaints from staff, vendors, inmates, and other clients, and the general public; required to appear in court and testify to facts and circumstances related to inmate property and Clothing department processes
* Oversees and participates in investigations of alleged missing property; understands the art of investigating charges and works to resolve all alleged charges
** Minimum Qualifications****:
*** Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a closely related field, and three (3) years clothing operations experience including one (1) year supervisory experience preferably in a correctional institution environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Good knowledge of clothing/property operations and procedures; knowledge of jail operations and procedures; knowledge of clothing/property equipment; knowledge of safety standards and procedures.  Knowledge of inventory management; and knowledge of warehouse purchasing and supply procedures; knowledge of vendors within the clothing supply business area
* Skill in understanding and applying jail standards. Skill in understanding Sheriff’s Office policy and procedures; skill in utilizing window-based software, Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, Inmate Management Information System (IMIS)
* Ability to clearly apply and communicate policy and procedures to multiple internal and external departments; ability to supervise employees; ability to troubleshoot equipment problems; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; ability to operate and obtain information from surveillance camera and DVR systems; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, inmates, family members, vendors, co-workers, other County employees
* Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
* Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
* Required to be on-call 24-hours a day
* May work weekends and perform shift work
* May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
** Working Environment and Physical Demands:
*** Working conditions are primarily in a jail environment with constant exposure to violent or hostile people, hazardous materials, unfavorable fumes and odors, wet surfaces and high noise areas
