IT Project Manager
Constellation Search Group is looking for multiple contract Technical Project Managers with experience in software development or infrastructure for a 12 month+ contract position. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations and tactical aspects of retail banking system development and vendor implementation projects. The Technical Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and of the required quality.
Additionally, the role requires the creation and maintenance of project task schedules, capturing work breakdown structures, and managing scope, budget, and risks.
- Manage operational and tactical aspects of retail banking system development and vendor implementation projects.
- Assume full responsibility for project management areas such as scope management, project planning and scheduling, resource management, risk and issue management, communication management, project monitoring, controlling, and project status reporting.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and at the desired quality level.
- Create and maintain project task schedules while capturing detailed work breakdown structures from subject matter experts.
- Identify and manage internal and external task dependencies to define the project's critical path.
- Measure and monitor progress of tasks, milestones, and action items.
- Prepare and deliver communication materials including status reports, meeting minutes, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.
- Manage and control changes to the project's scope, cost, or schedule.
- Address and resolve project issues/risks in a timely manner using mitigation and/or escalation techniques.
- Work closely with internal ET application and team managers to handle project-related availability and performance issues.
- Coordinate post-project review activities and identify opportunities for project process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a business-related field, or equivalent education and experience, preferably in a financial services environment.
- PMI-PMP or equivalent project management certification demonstrating industry-accepted project management best practices knowledge.
- Minimum of ten years of project management experience in financial services software development, technical integration, or business operations environments.
- Strong knowledge of distributed and mainframe infrastructure and technology concepts, with the ability to quickly grasp new technologies and apply them as needed.
- Strong writing, listening, and communication skills, with the ability to cultivate professional relationships in a functional matrix organizational structure.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as needed.
