Austin Bridge & Road seeking 1 experienced Superintendent I
- Bridge Structures and 1 experienced Superintendent I
- Roadways to lead and manage large-scale heavy civil construction projects. This role involves overseeing multiple scopes of work, subcontracting, and leading concrete crews of 20–50 workers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substructure and superstructure construction, deep knowledge of TxDOT specifications, and proven leadership in planning and execution.
Responsibilities for Bridge Structures:
- Manage all scopes of work, including subcontracting and concrete crew leadership
- Coordinate manpower and equipment for crews of 20–50 workers
- Develop and implement long-term planning strategies
- Communicate effectively with engineering and project management teams
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and take ownership of safety initiatives
- Review project documents, submittals, and schedules to assess materials, manpower, and equipment needs
- Plan jobsite layout, security, office trailers, and utility setups with the project manager
- Designate areas for cranes, hoists, material storage, and parking
- Supervise field engineers in initial site survey and layout, ensuring accuracy before foundation
work begins - Inspect ongoing field work for quality and uniformity, addressing deficiencies promptly
- Assist project manager in schedule, cost evaluations, and labor projections, adjusting plans as needed to maintain timeline
- Monitor equipment use and costs, assisting in the development of equipment projection charts
- Schedule and manage governmental inspections for certificate of occupancy
- Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and other stakeholders, resolving issues through direct negotiation
- Foster training and development of subordinates through on-the-job and external learning opportunities
- Lead career planning, merit increases, and promotions for project staff
- Oversee project close-out tasks, including punch lists and as-built documents
Responsibilities for Roadways:
- Lead and manage crews of 20+ workers on roadway projects
- Oversee dirt and grading operations, subgrade preparation, and line stabilization
- Manage traffic control and MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) setups
- Supervise milling and overlay operations
- Coordinate and manage equipment fleet in the field
- Ensure compliance with TxDOT specifications and inspection processes
- Own all safety responsibilities and enforce safety standards
- Plan and schedule daily and weekly activities to meet project goals
- Supervise field engineers in initial site survey and layout, ensuring accuracy before foundation
work begins - Inspect ongoing field work for quality and uniformity, addressing deficiencies promptly

Qualifications:
- Experience: 7–10 years in heavy civil construction or related field
- Proven experience in building substructure and superstructure
- Strong knowledge of TxDOT specifications and inspection processes
- Ability to coordinate manpower and equipment efficiently
Knowledge of local subcontractor market in Texas
- Understanding of production rates and sequencing of work
- Design-Build experience is a huge plus
