Education Center Operator
The Education Center Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of each Head Start center, including delivering the curriculum and effective instructional practices in accordance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Licensing Minimum Standards, and agency policies. The role ensures service alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma‑informed care lens, develops and maintains collaborative relationships, supervises Head Start staff, incorporates an effective Parent, Family and Community Engagement Program, and maintains and oversees assigned budgets.
EssentialFunctions Center Oversight
- Ensures that clients have access, as needed, to all five pillars of the social determinants of health with a trauma‑informed lens through agency services and/or community partners.
- Supervises and provides oversight of day‑to‑day operations of assigned Head Start Center to ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Licensing Minimum Standards, agency policies and procedures. Identifies service gaps and/or duplication to facilitate a well‑coordinated service delivery system within the Head Start program and throughout the agency; establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.
Supports effective implementation of all content areas and relevant policies and procedures. - Works with senior management and staff to establish, review and align agency’s program and operating policies to facilitate coordination of functions and operations between departments, and to establish standards and contractual standards as appropriate.
- Manages the collection of data and service questionnaires/surveys through the completion of data and contractual tracking through the data management system and/or other tracking systems required by contract or agency needs correctly and on time.
- Prioritizes workload, manages time, and meets multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Serves as an ambassador in supporting and contributing to healthy and productive communication throughout the agency with clients, staff and stakeholders.
- Communicates the rationale, methodology, and goals of the agency and Head Start program to community groups and organizations through written materials, oral presentations and media appearances; participates in multi‑agency coordination and collaboration activities focusing on culturally sensitive customer service.
- Assists in identifying and securing funds that enhance and expand program implementation efforts and overall development of Head Start services; provides oversight, record keeping and reporting of center in‑kind contributions from parents and/or community members.
- Maintains and oversees assigned budgets; works with senior management and staff regarding center fiscal management; records keeping and reporting of purchasing and tracking of supplies and equipment, staff time‑keeping, and attendance.
- Has oversight of learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving readiness for school by developing literacy, phonemic and print awareness; language understanding and use; vocabulary expansion; appreciation of books; early math and science understanding; problem‑solving abilities; and approaches to learning; and supports the social and emotional development of children.
- Encourages the involvement of families of the children in a Head Start program and supports the development of relationships between children and their families.
- Supervises the recruitment, interviewing, training and placement of Head Start staff and volunteers, and the identification and recruitment of Head Start enrollment and participation. Supports teaching staff in understanding child outcomes data and using it to improve practice and outcomes. Provides staff with coaching and support for quality improvement and professional growth through regular observation and formal and informal feedback.
